Importance of Central Secretariat of Political Branches, how to elect Secretary General and National Secretariat constitute main topics for discussion (Committee on Basic Law)

 Dakhla (Refugee Camps) December 20, 2015 (SPS) - The spokesperson of the 14th Congress of the Polisario Front, Omar Mansour, affirmed that the status of the Central Secretariat of Political Branches and how to elect the Secretary General and members of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front has constituted the most important topics for discussion in the Committee of Basic Law, which began its work Saturday morning.

 

 The Committee of Basic Law provided two options on the status of the Central Secretariat of Political Branches, in charge of orientation and mobilization in the Polisario front, the first was keeping its existing status in addition to granting it more powers, the second was affiliating it to the office of the Secretary-General, giving it higher level and strong political position, according to the source.

 

 As for how to elect the Secretary-General, it has not been decided yet, however among the options raised was to be elected by the delegates in the Congress or by the members of the National Secretariat after they have been election.

 

 On how to elect members of the National Secretariat, Omar Mansour highlighted that there are two options that have not been decided yet, the first was voting by a simple majority, 50% +1, the second was submitting the list of the candidates and sorting it by the number of votes gained.

 

The options presented to the Committee are discussed and resolved within it, and in case they could not be resolved, the Committee has to submit them to the Congress to be voted on by the delegates. (SPS)
