14th Polisario Front Congress opens in Dakhla refugee camp

Dakhla (Saharawi Refugee Camps), December 16, 2015 (SPS) - The works of the fourteenth Congress of the Polisario Front is to open Wednesday in the Saharawi refugee camp of Dahkla, under the slogan "Strength, Planning Willpower to impose national independence and sovereignty," with the participation of 2472 Saharawi delegates and a large number of foreign guests.

 

"The province of Dakhla hosts today a crucial and historic event in the fateful battle of the Saharawi people," the secretary general of the Polisario Front and president of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), Mohamed Abdelaziz, said in an opening address.

 

The head of the national commission for the event's preparation, Khatri Addouh, welcomed the large number of foreign delegations attending the congress, including the Algerian delegation, led by Minister of Mujahideen Tyeb Zitouni.

 

The Saharawi delegates, who are from the liberated territories, occupied territories, refugee camps and Saharawi diaspora abroad, will have to examine a report presented by Polisario's outgoing secretary general, Mohamed Abdelaziz, on the first day of the congress, which will run until December 20th.
