ANC SG announces boycott of companies activating in Saharawi occupied territories

Dakhla (refugee camps), December 16, 2015 (SPS) The Secretary General of the African National Congress (ANC - South Africa), Gwede Mantashe, announced Wednesday at Dakhla (refugee camps), that his political movement will initiate soon a campaign of boycott of all foreign companies that exploit the natural resources of Western Sahara.

 

 "We are currently working to identify all foreign companiesinvolved with the Moroccan occupier in the exploitation of the natural resources of Western Sahara", indicated Mr Mantashe in his speech in the work of the 14th Congress of the Frente Polisario.

 

"We will organize a campaign to boycott all these companies that activate in occupied Western Sahara in defiance of international law," he added.  

 

 He called, in this context, for "an active support of the just and legitimate struggle" of the Saharawi people, by clarifying, he said, "our position towards the breaches committed against international law, in particular through the illegal exploitation of natural resources of a country under occupation.

 

"We join, from this platform, our voices to those calling the UN to accelerate the process of self-determination in occupied Western Sahara ", stated the SG of the ANC, adding that the international community is called to set a date "as soon as possible" for the Organization of a referendum in Western Sahara in accordance with international legality.

 

He gave, in this context, a tribute to Algeria, led by Abdelaziz Bouteflika, for "permanent support" of the Saharawi people and solidarity with all the just causes throughout the world.

 

 "We ourselves had benefited from this support at the time of the system of racial segregation in South Africa," he said in this regard.

 

 "The Saharawi people can also count on our unwavering solidarity," he added.

 

The work of the 14th Congress of the Polisario Front began Wednesday in the Wilaya of Dakhla (camp refugees), under the theme "Strength, determination and will to impose national independence and sovereignty". (SPS)
