Algiers, December 14, 2015 (SPS) - Some 2,475 delegates will take part in the 14th Congress of the Polisario Front (December 16-20) in the province of Dakhla (Saharawi refugee camp), according to the Saharawi ambassador to Algiers, Brahim Ghali.
The congress will be held under the slogan, "Strength, Planning and Willpower to Impose National Independence and Sovereignty."
"The congress is due to draw a large number of Sahrawi people from the refugee camps, the occupied territories and the diaspora," Ghali told APS.
Foreign delegations, including Algeria's, are also invited to the congress.
Many African, Latin-American, Asian and European countries will be represented in the event, some of which with high-level political representatives, according to the Saharawi diplomat.
The Congress of the Polisario front comes this year in a special internal and external context.
On the internal level, Saharawi people are feeling lassitude after 40 years of Moroccan occupation and 24 years since the since the signing of a cease-fire agreement, and yet it stipulates the organization of a referendum to self-determination for occupied Western Sahara's population.
On the external level, the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) and the Polisario Front have made, over the past few years, many achievements on the diplomatic, humanitarian, legal and media levels. (SPS)
