Ban Ki-moon expected soon in region to relaunch negotiation between Morocco, Polisario Front

ALGIERS,November 24, 2015 (SPS) - Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon intends to travel soon to the region to try and relaunch negotiations between Morocco and Polisario Front as part of the UN process aimed at finding a solution to this conflict.

 

“Ban Ki-moon wants to visit the region in the coming months to bring, himself, a contribution to the search of a solution to this conflict that has lasted too long,” said the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary General to Western Sahara, Christopher Ross.

 

Ross started a visit in the region to relaunch negotiations between Morocco and the Polisario Front as part of the United Nations process, to come to a definite solution allowing the Sahrawi people to have its right to self-determination.

During the first stage of his tour in Algeria, observer country, along with Mauritania, the UN envoy was received by the President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika and by the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ramtane Lamamra and the Minister of Maghreb Affairs, African Union and Arab League, Abdelkader Messahel.
