Chairwoman of Algerian Red Crescent reiterates Algeria's constant position on the issue of Western Sahara

Shaheed El-Hafed (refugee camps), 23 Nov 2015 (SPS) - Chairwoman of the Algerian Red Crescent (CRA) Saida Benhabiles, reiterated to the Sahrawi officials Sunday at Shaheed El-Hafed, Sahrawi refugee camp, the constant position of Algeria regarding the correctness of the Saharawi cause.

 

In a press briefing after her meeting with President of the Saharawi National Council Khatri Eddouh, Benhabiles praised the achievements made in the Saharawi question, through the position of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC) whose representative recently visited the Saharawi refugee camps, a first since forty years.

 

This achievement, she noted, has been made possible through the efforts spent by the CRA and its repeated calls on the international stage in favour of the Saharawi people worldwide, and which resulted in humanitarian aid worth 225,000 Swiss francs.

 

"Support is not limited only to financial aspect support, it also covers political achievements obtained through humanitarian action '', said the President of CRA.

 

President of the Saharawi National Council Eddouh Khatri stressed the visit of the President of CRA to Sahrawi refugee camps reflects once again Algeria's position towards the Saharawi issue, adding that historical ties and activism unite the Saharawi and Algerian peoples, in addition to their human relations and neighbourhood.

 

 He expressed, on behalf of the Saharawi people, the Saharawi government and the Polisario Front, gratitude for the principled and continuous support throughout the liberation path during which the Saharawi people endured enormous suffering.

 

The Chairwoman of the Algerian Red Crescent (ARC), Saida Benhabiles, had arrived Sunday in the Sahrawi refugee camps on a working visit for two days, during which she will witness the situation in the refugee camps following the recent disaster caused by the torrential rains, as well as meetings with Sahrawi officials.
