Washington, 22 Nov 2015 (SPS) - The United Nations Secretary General's Personal Envoy, Christopher Ross will start a ten-day trip to the region on Monday in a bid to resume talks between the Polisario Front and Rabat.
The UN envoy will hold discussions with officials of Morocco and the Polisario Front, and will also go to Algeria and Mauritania as observer countries of the peace process in Western Sahara, Polisaro Front's representative to the UN Ahmed Boukhari indicated, without elaborating about the stages of the trip.
He added that Ross will meet with Sahrawi leaders in the refugee camps on 27 November.
Following his tour to the region, the UN envoy will hold a briefing to the Security Council on 8 December.
The meeting will be followed by the presentation of a comprehensive report to the Security Council on Ross mediation mission for the resolution of the Western Sahara conflict ahead of the visit of UN Chief Ban Ki-moon to the region, scheduled for early 2016, said Boukhari. (SPS)
