Algiers, July 30, 2015 (SPS) - Prime Minister Mr. Abdelkader Taleb Omar on Thursday warned against the risks of drugs coming from Morocco on the security of the region and the world in general, highlighting that Morocco remains the largest producer and exporter of Cannabis in the world according to international reports.
In an interview with the Algerian daily “El-Khabar”, the Minister said Morocco’s drugs are being sent abroad, an act he described as a “crime against the international law.”
He went on saying that Morocco maintains close ties with terrorist groups operating in Sub-Saharan Africa in drug trafficking and kidnapping, mentioning in particular the abduction of aid workers in the Saharawi refugee camps by the so-called Movement for the Unity and Jihad in West Africa (MUJAO).
Abdelkader, on other hand, underlined that Morocco continues to block the efforts of the United Nations and its envoy for Western Sahara, Christopher Ross, to find settlement to the conflict of Western Sahara.
Concerning the looting of Western Sahara natural resources, Saharawi Prime Minister said there several agreements between Morocco and some foreign companies to pillage the wealth of the innocent Saharawi people. (SPS)
