Submitted on

Abuja, May 17, 2015 (SPS) - The summit of the African First Ladies Peace Mission (AFLPM) has elected a new board of five members representing the regions of Africa chaired by the Republic of Sierra Leone and including the Sahrawi Republics, Congo, South Sudan and South Africa.

The board which was elected for a term of two years is intended to lead the work of the organization between summits and coordinate its initiatives in the continent from its permanent headquarters in the Nigerian capital Abuja.

The election of the SADR as the organization's vice president demonstrates the outstanding role and effective contribution of the SADR in this African organization in recent years, which were crowned in March 2014 with a support and solidarity visit of AFLPM to Sahrawi refugee camps during which it had meetings with Saharawi officials and women's organizations.  (SPS)
