Chahid Ah Hafed (refugee camps), May 6, 2015 (SPS) - “Polisario Front’s cooperation with the international efforts stems from the idea that dealing with the parties to the conflict must be on an equal footing, a dealing outlined in a clear and unambiguous framework that is to enable the Saharawi people of their right to self-determination and independence,” said the National Secretariat of the Frente Polisario, in a statement concluded its 11th session.

The Polisario Front underlined that its frank cooperation with the international efforts is outlined in a clear and unambiguous framework that is to enable the Saharawi people to exercise their right to self-determination and independence, in accordance with the UN Resolution 1514, and in implementation of the 1991 UN/AU settlement plan, agreed upon by both parties and endorsed by the UN Security Council.

The communiqué asked Spain to shoulder its legal, political and moral responsibility towards the Saharawi people, calling it, being a member of the UN Security Council, to adopt a position consistent with its standing as an administering power, which is obliged to decolonize the Western Sahara by permitting the Saharawi people to exercise their right to freedom and independence.

It, moreover, called on the European Union (EU) to refrain from signing any agreement with the Kingdom of Morocco including the territorial waters Western Sahara, because it is a breach to the rights of an oppressed people, blow to the Union’s credibility and a violation of its founding principles.
