Dajla (refugee camps), April 29, 2015 (SPS) - The local festival of culture and folk arts on Wednesday morning kicked off in the province of Dajla, Saharawi refugee camps, in parallel with FiSahara festival, to open this evening.
The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Abdelkader Taleb Omar, Culture Minister Khadija Hamdi, members of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front and Saharawi Government, in addition to the delegations attending FiSahara 2015.
In her speech on the occasion, Minister Khadija Hamdi said the event reflects the Saharawi people’s attachment to their culture and traditions that distinguish them from the rest of the world.
The event was opened with traditional folkloric plates performed by school and kindergarten children, which tell the uniqueness of Saharawi culture heritage which Moroccan occupier trying to suppress.
After the ceremony, Prime Minister and Culture Minister supervised the opening of a traditional camp, composed of a numbers of black-white tents that represents various aspects of Saharawi social life.
The local cultural festival is held in parallel with the International Film Festival in Western Sahara (FiSahara), to kick off this evening under the motto: “Universal Justice.” (SPS)
