Festivities of Western Sahara Film Festival start officially

Dajla (refugee camps), April 29, 2015 (SPS) - The festivities of the twelfth edition of the International Film Festival in Western Sahara (FiSahara) on Wednesday evening started officially, in the presence of international actors, filmmakers, activists and journalists, as well as human rights activists from the occupied Saharawi territories.


Speaking during the inaugural ceremony of the FiSahara 2015, the Minister of Culture Ms. Khadija Hamdi said the “Universal Justice” is a slogan consistent with wishes and goals of the Saharawi people, who are still fighting for endless human values, notably the right to self-determination.


The Festival, on other hand, paid homage to the late Ecuadorian writer Eduardo Galiano for his position of support to the rights of oppressed peoples across the world, including of which the people of Western Sahara.


For the four coming days, the province of Dajla will witness various workshops focusing on audio-visual production, video making, human rights and photography, among many other topics, as part of the International Film Festival in Western Sahara.
