Nairobi, April 14, 2015 (SPS) - The Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) took part on Monday in the Ministerial Preparatory Meeting for the third session of the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat III), to be held in Quito, Ecuador, in October 2016.
Held in the Kenyan capital, the meeting discussed the formulation of a unified African position consistent with the major objectives enshrined in the continental development plan approved by Heads of State and Government of the African Union in their January 2013 summit.
The Ministers emphasized the importance of development approaches to respond to all the challenges facing the continent especially in the field of rural and urban human settlements.
It should be recalled that Nairobi is the headquarters of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN–Habitat), a UN agency for human settlements and sustainable urban development.
The first two session of the UN conference on human settlements hosted by Nairobi in the years 1976 and 1996. (SPS)
