Submitted on

Accra, March 10, 2015 (SPS) - The Pan-African Movement (PAC) condemned, in a resolution issued at the end of its 8th congress held from 5 to 7 March, the decision by Crans Montana Forum to hold a meeting in Dakhla, an occupied territory of Western Sahara, in collusion with the Moroccan authorities.

Following the full text of the resolution:

Members of the Pan African Movement, met at 8th Pan African Congress held from 5 to 7, 2015 in Accra, Ghana:

Reaffirming our rich historical legacy of fighting all forms of colonialism and oppression; advocating human rights and real economic independence for all;

Recalling our historical position on Sahrawi's people's struggle for self-determination and independence;

Taking note of all the relevant United Nations Resolutions which recognize the status of Non-Self-Governing Territories in Western Sahara, making them the subject of decolonization;

Mindful of Article 20 paragraph 1 of the African Charter stipulating that: “All peoples shall have the right to existence. They shall have the unquestionable and inalienable right to self-determination. They shall freely determine their political status and shall pursue their economic and social development according to the policy they have freely chosen.”;

Bearing in mind efforts undertaken by the international community, particularly, UN and AU to achieve a just and lasting solution of the question of Western Sahara in accordance with the UN Charter and Resolution 1514 adopted in 1960;

Considering the disregard and affront to international law by Morocco to frustrate legal processes ensuring the freedom and self-determination of the Sahrawi people;

Hereby:

1. Reiterate our unflinching support to the struggle of Sahrawi people, Africa’s last colony,

2. Call on the UN and other relevant bodies to conclude, as a matter of urgency, the process of decolonization of Western Sahara.

3. Show our support to Ambassador Christopher Ross, Personal Envoy of UN Secretary General to Western Sahara;

4. Demand the extension of the MINURSO's mandate by immediately adding a human rights monitoring and reporting mechanisms mandate;

5. Further demand the UN to halt systematic plundering of natural resources of the Sahrawi people by Morocco against international law;

6. Demand economic and political sanctions on Morocco for their flagrant disregard for the international law and order, and;

7. Condemn the organizers of Crans Montana Forum for their collusion with the Moroccan authorities to hold a meeting in Dakhla, an occupied territory of Western Sahara, against international law.” (SPS)
