Moroccan police “brutally” torture young Sahrawi

Submitted on

El Aaiun (Occupied Territories), December 17, 2014 (SPS) - A Moroccan police patrol arrested Monday evening in the occupied city of El Aaiun young Sahrawi, Erguibanu Lehwage, and “brutally” tortured him using sticks and batons, on the grounds of his participation in the demonstration called for by human rights organizations in the city.

According to Sahrawi human rights organizations, the young Sahrawi suffered various injuries at different parts of his body which reveals the extent of the use of excessive force by Moroccan repressive apparatus against the young Sahrawi and exposing his life to danger.

The Committee for the Defense of the right to self-determination of the Western Sahara people strongly condemned this “criminal” act, emphasizing the need to put pressure on the Moroccan state in order to stop the torture of Sahrawi activists demanding the right to freedom and self-determination.
