Saharawi Red Crescent organizes farewell ceremony to WFP representive

Shaheed Elhafedh (refugee camps), December 16, 2014 (SPS) - The Saharawi Red Crescent (SRC) organized on Monday a farewell ceremony at its headquarters in Shaheed Elhafedh in honor of the representative of the World Food Programme (WFP) in Algeria, Mr. Pedro Figueiredo at the end of his mission.

 

 The ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister, Abdelkader Taleb Omar, Minister of Cooperation, Ibrahim Mokhtar, , and the President of the Saharawi Red Crescent, Bouhoubeini Yahya, in addition to representatives of UN organizations and NGOs working in the Saharawi refugee camps.

 

Prime Minister Abdelkader Taleb Omar handed over award to Mr. Figueiredo in recognition of his humanitarian efforts in favor of the refugees of the Saharawi people who have relied on international aid for more than 40 years because of the illegal occupation of Western Sahara by Morocco.

 

Mr. Figueiredo worked for years in his capacity as the representative of the World Food Programme in Algeria. He worked with dedication and contributed to the development of the mission of his organization at the Sahrawi refugee camps. (SPS)
