Algiers, December 15, 2014 (SPS) - The participants in the fifth conference of Algiers on “The Right of People’s to Resistance: The Case of Sahrawi People,” reaffirmed, Sunday in Algiers, the “legitimacy” of the struggle of the Sahrawi people against the Moroccan occupier.
In a final declaration culminating the works of this meeting, the participants encouraged the Sahrawi people to continue their struggle for freedom and dignity and demanded the immediate “release” of all Sahrawi political prisoners, calling for an “impartial investigation” into the cases of the disappeared Sahrawis.
Furthermore, they called on the United Nations to honour its decolonization doctrine by the “immediate” implementation of its own resolutions on Western Sahara, through the organization of a self-determination referendum of the Sahrawi people.
The participants in the fifth conference of Algiers denounced the violations of the human rights perpetrated by Morocco in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, as well as Morocco’s “systematic plundering” of Western Sahara’s natural resources.
A call was also launched to the UN and various specialized agencies in order to provide “sufficient” and “multiform” humanitarian aid to the Sahrawi refugees. (SPS)
