Madrid, November 30, 2014 (SPS) - The movement of solidarity with the Saharawi people paid Saturday tribute to Pepe Taboada Vades, the first founder of an association of friends of the Saharawi people in Spain, currently the president of the State Coordinator of Associations in Solidarity with the Sahara (CEAS-Sahara).
Taboada formed in 1976 the first association of friends of the Saharawi people and worked to expand the solidarity movement. He spent a lifetime serving the cause.
The event, in honor of the friend of the Saharawi cause, held in Madrid and coordinated by CEAS-Sahara in collaboration with the Saharawi representation in Spain, started with a word of welcome by Fernando Iñiguez, a journalist and president of the Madrid Association of Friends of the Sahrawi People.
The President of the Saharawi Parliament Jatri Aduh read a letter from the President of the Republic, Mohamed Abdelaziz, on behalf of the Saharawi government, National Secretariat of the Polisario Front and Saharawi people in general, expressed appreciation and consideration of the Saharawi people to Taobada.
For his part,the Saharawi Minister for Europe, Mohamed Sidati, stressed the unwavering commitment and conviction of the honored with the Saharawi cause.
Meanwhile the Saharawi representative in Spain, Bucharaya Beyun, hailed the years of shared work, affirming that without his effort many initiatives would not have gone ahead.
At the end of the event, Pepe Taobada addressed the audience offering his thanks to the Spanish solidarity movement with the Sahara for this meeting. (SPS)
