President of Republic felicitates Mauritania on Independence Day

Bir Lehlou (liberated zones), Nov 27, 2014 (SPS) - President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Frente Polisario, Mohamed Abdelaziz, on Thursday sent a letter of congratulation to the President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Mr. Mohamed Ould Abdelaziz, on the 54th anniversary of the independence of his country.


“On the occasion of the 54th anniversary of the independence of your country, it is my pleasure to extend to Your Excellency, on behalf of myself and the Saharawi government and people, our most sincere felicitations and best wishes of prosperity for the brotherly people of Mauritania,” writes President of the Republic in his letter to Mauritanian counterpart, a copy of which obtained by SPS.


President seized the opportunity to reiterate commitment of the Saharawi government to cooperate “constructively” with the efforts being undertaken by the UN and AU aimed at reaching a solution to the Saharawi question in accordance with UN charter and resolutions.


Wishing the brotherly people of Mauritania more progress in the path of democratic, institutional and development building of modern state, President Mohamed Abdelaziz reiterated willingness to further consolidate the bonds of brotherhood and friendship happily exist between the two friendly countries and peoples.


Mauritania achieved independence from France on 28 November 1960. It has been recognizing the Saharawi Republic (SADR) since 28 February 1984. (SPS)
