Ninth Interfaith Dialogue for Peace concludes its work

Boujdour (refugee camps), Nov 18, 2014 (SPS) - The 9th Interfaith Dialogue for Peace, held on 16-18 November under the theme “Prophet Yunus in Islam and Christianity”, on Tuesday evening concluded its work in the Wilaya of Boujdour, Saharawi refugee camps.


In a final communiqué issued at the end of the Dialogue, participants denounced Morocco’s grave violations of human rights perpetuated in the occupied territories of Western Sahara.


The also lamented for the fact that such violations are being committed in spite of the UN presence, through its mission MINURSO, since 23 years, calling upon governments of the world to act in favour of finding a final solution guaranteeing Saharawi people’s right to self-determination.


The, moreover, praised the spirit of tolerance and constructive dialogue characterized the Dialogue.


The Conference stressed the need to opt to dialogue in order to take the advantage of the points of convergence between religions, hailing the spirit of cooperation and tolerance shown by the participants.


The Dialogue is an annual conference jointly organized by the Saharawi Youth Union (UJSARIO) and the U.S. Christ the Rock Community Church, and sponsored by the Saharawi Ministry of Justice and Religious Affairs.


This year’s edition was attended by scholars and imams from Algeria, Mauritania and the Saharawi Republic (SADR), in addition to priests and researchers from the United States of America. (SPS)
