Seville (Andalusia, Spain), Oct 21, 2014 (SPS) - Minister of Culture Ms. Khadija Hamdi on Monday met with organizers of the 8th edition of the International Arts and Human Rights Encounters in the Western Sahara (known as; ARTifariti), to be held from 1 until 8 November 2014 in the Wilaya of Boujdour.

Attended by ARTifariti Director, Fernando Peraita, and the Saharawi Representative Mr. Abidin Buchraya, the meeting was devoted to examine the final preparation for the event.

Being held under the motto “tearing down the Wall of Shame”, the event will bring together artists and activists from the United States of America, Mexico, Algeria, Ireland, Tunisia, Mauritania and Spain, said the organizers.

Seven years after the inception of ARTifariti, organizers still making more efforts to break down 2700-km-long Moroccan Wall of Shame, the longest minefield in the world.

The curatorial team for this edition, an International collective of artists and curators, has proposed the creation of pairs of artists of different identities that combine their knowledge and experience to achieve this goal.

The event, on other hand, is an opportunity for the people of art and culture to exchange knowledge and expertise to improve human rights and make stronger solidarity among world societies. (SPS)
