Submitted on

London, Oct 17, 2014 (SPS) - Adala UK has requested, once again, the international community to put pressure the Kingdom of Morocco to respect the basic rights of the Saharawi political prisoners, calling for providing the necessary medical assistance.

The Saharawi political prisoner Elmojahid Mayara, now languishing in the Lakhal Prison in the occupied city of El Aaiun, entered an open hunger strike on October 14, 2014.

According to his family, Mayara was tortured and did not receive any medical treatment, said a statement issued by Adala UK.

Abdel Fatah Dalal, also detained in Lakhal Prison, on Thursday brought before court and sentenced to one year in prison.

Whereas, the trials of Mohamed Baber, Aliyen Mossaoui and Abdelmotalib Sarir were rescheduled for October 28th by the Moroccan Court in occupied El Aiun, capital city of Western Sahara.

Khalik Elmerkhi will appear before trial on November 20th in Agadir, South of Morocco, said the same source. (SPS)
