ICRC organizes interactive session with national media

Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), Oct 16, 2014 (SPS) - Field Office of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in the Saharawi refugee camps on Thursday morning organized an interactive meeting with the representatives of Saharawi national mass-media.


The meeting was held in collaboration with ICRC’s field office in Tunisia.


Addressing the audience, Minister of Information Mr. Mohamed El-Mami Tamek highlighted the important and key role played by the national media in sending out message and voice of the Saharawi people.


Describing Saharawi national media as a bridge between all different actors and the national public opinion, the Minister invited all international humanitarian organization operating the Camps to be like the ICRC by doing such initiatives.


For her part, Director of ICRC Field office in the Saharawi Refugee Camps, Nancy Nasreddine, said that the move comes as part of a series of meetings been initiated by her office since March 2014 in the aim to aware about the work of ICRC.


Rym Essid, from Field Office in Tunisia, gave a presentation on the international humanitarian law and the pertinent international conventions.


“By doing so, we seek to spread awareness among Saharawi national media about the International Committee of the Red Cross and the activities it is doing worldwide, especially those carried out in the Saharawi refugee camps,” told Nancy Nasreddine SPS, following the meeting. (SPS)
