President felicitates Mexican counterpart on Independence Day

Bir Lehlou (liberated zones), Sept 24, 2014 (SPS) - President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Frente Polisario Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz has congratulated H.E. Mr. Enrique Peña Nieto, President of the United States of Mexico, on the occasion of the 204th anniversary of the independence of Mexico.


“I would like express my greatest congratulations to Your Excellency and to the Government and people of Mexico on the occasion of the 204th anniversary of the independence of the United States of Mexico,” writes President Mohamed Abdelaziz, in letter a copy of which obtained Wednesday by SPS.


He also wished that Mexico would, under the leadership of Mr. Nieto, achieve success and a decent living for its people in the coming years.


At the conclusion, President Mohamed Abdelaziz reiterated the Saharawi government’s commitment to continue deepening the bonds of friendship and mutual cooperation happily exist between the two countries.


It is to be recalled that the Independence Day celebrates the day Miguel Hidalgo is believed to have made the cry of independence (El Grito de la Independencia) in the town of Dolores, in the north-central part of the Mexican state of Guanajuato, on 16 September 1810.


Hidalgo was one of the nation’s leaders during the War of Independence. (SPS)
