SADR Cadres Summer University: lecture on Western Sahara peaceful resistance

Boumerdes (Algeria), Aug 5, 2014 (SPS) - Work of the 5th edition of the Summer University of Cadres of the Frente Polisario and Saharawi Republic (SADR), held on the current August 3-23 in Boumerdes, continues for the 3rd consecutive day by presenting a lecture on the peaceful resistance in Western Sahara by the Saharawi activist Bachir Ismaeli.


The lecture was supervised by the Minister of Occupied Territories and Diaspora Mr. Mohamed El-Ouali Akeik, activist Bachir Ismaeli, Dr. Omar Sadug and Dr. Salah Saoud.


Reviewing the history of the peaceful resistance in Western Sahara, the lecturer highlighted the role of the Intifada of Independence in exposing Morocco’s arbitrary policies practiced against the innocent Saharawi people.


He also stressed the importance of peaceful protests in the occupied territories of Western Sahara in calling for the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination and independence, release of Saharawi political prisoners, enlarge the MINURSO mandate to include human rights monitoring and to stop the looting of the territory’s natural resources.


Recalling to the engagement by all components of Saharawi society in the peaceful uprising, the activist indicated that the Intifada has achieved a variety of gains both internally and externally, most prominently of which its contribution to shed light of the Moroccan gross violations of human rights against the Saharawi people.


He, on other hand, said that the peaceful resistance encouraged Saharawi masses to get rid of the knot of fear and to bring hope to the hearts of people, adding that it exposed the lies and allegations promoted by Moroccan regime and isolated the Moroccan state internationally. (SPS)
