Saharawi people attached to the right of self-determination and independence (human rights activist)

Boumerdas, August, 05, 2014 (SPS)- The Saharawi activist of human rights Salha Boutengiza said Tuesday morning that the Saharawi people in the occupied territories of Western Sahara and southern Morocco are adhered to the right to self-determination and independence, calling for the international community to work in order to finish the occupation from Western Sahara.

In an interview with SPS on the sidelines of a lecture on the peaceful resistance in Western Sahara, the activist indicated that the Saharawi people in the occupied territories and southern Morocco "are still committed to their right to self-determination and independence."


She went on saying that Saharawi people in the occupied territories are united and determined to achieve their freedom and independence, adding that the Saharawi people will not be subject to all forms of oppression practiced by the occupying Moroccan authorities.


Boutengiza highlighted that the struggle of the Saharawi people in the occupied territories is "peaceful", through which they raise slogans calling for the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination and decent living in their country.


The Sahrawi activist added in the same context that such struggle is met by various types of repression, including of which torture, arrogance, sticks, batons and stones.


She also asked international community to act urgently to carry the occupying forces to open the territories for the international media to sshed light on what is happening in the occupied part of Western Sahara.


The Sahrawi Human Rights Activist is participating with 70 Saharawi Activists, coming from the occupied territories, in the work of the 5th edition of the summer university of Saharawi cadres, held in the Algerian province Boumerdas from 03 to 23 August 2014. (SPS)
