Canary solidarity movement calls for legitimate rights of Saharawi people

Tenerife (Canary Islands, Spain), July 30, 2014 (SPS) - The Canary movement of solidarity with the Saharawi people called Monday on the international community to work in favour of the legitimate right of the Saharawi people to self-determination through a free and democratic referendum in accordance with UN resolutions and international legitimacy principles.


At the end of its ordinary meeting held Monday, the movement renewed support and solidarity with the Saharawi cause, urging the international community, especially the UN and Security Council, to enable the Saharawi people to exercise their legitimate right to self-determination.


The meeting focused on the latest developments on the question of Western Sahara, including the situation of human rights in the occupied territories and lack of humanitarian aid provided for the refugees.


Addressing the audience, Saharawi diplomat praised the movement’s support to the Saharawi issue and its contribution to the international campaign for the release of Saharawi political prisoners in Moroccan jails.


This meeting was attended by Polisario Front’s Representative Hamdi Mansour, the President of Spanish Federation of Institutions in solidarity with the Saharawi People (FEDISSAH) Carmelo RAMÍREZ, in addition to several other personalities. (SPS)
