President of Republic arrives in Equatorial Guinea for AU Summit

Malabo, June 25, 2014 (SPS) - President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz arrived moments ago in the capital of Equatorial Guinea, Malabo, to take part at the 23rd ordinary summit of heads of state and government of the African Union, to kick off Thursday.


President Mohamed Abdelaziz was received at Malabo International Airport by Prime Minister of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea H.E. Mr. Vicente Ehate Tomi, in addition to some officials in the government of this country.


The President of the Republic is accompanied by a very important delegation comprised of Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, minister of foreign affairs, Mrs. Khira Bulahi, minister of vocational training, employees and public function, Mr. Mhamed Khaddad, coordinator with the UN Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO), Mohamed Al-Ouali Akeik, minister of occupied territories, diaspora and national rural, Mr. Bulahi Sayd, minister of construction and urbanization of liberated territories, Mr. Naama Jomani, minister of development, Mr. Hash Ahmed, minister delegate for Latin America, Mr. Hamdi Abeiha, minister delegate for Africa, Mr. Laman Baali, ambassador in Ethiopia and permanent representative to the AU, Mr. Abdati Breika, advisor to the presidency of the Republic, Mrs. Mbarka Al-Mahdi, head of the parliament's external relations committee.


African leaders will, during two days of deliberation, discuss a variety of topics, of which funding of the Union and the Africa-US Summit, which will be held in August 2014 in Washington.


In keeping with tradition, the Assembly of heads of state and government of the African Union will welcome the newly-elected African Presidents of Malawi, Guinea Bissau and Egypt respectively Mr. Peter Mutharika, Mr. José Mário Vaz and Mr. Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi. (SPS)
