Women Together denounces Moroccan violations against Saharawi women

South Africa, May 28, 2014 (SPS) - Women Together Association has denounced human rights violations carried out by Morocco against Saharawi women, voicing support to their fight for independence of Western Sahara.


In a meeting with the Secretary General of Saharawi Women Union Ms. Fatma El-Mehdi, the Association’s Coordinator Charles Bulelwa welcomed the accession of the Saharawi Women Union into Women Together, inviting her to attend all its forthcoming activities.


She, in this respect, invited the Saharawi Women Union to take part at its 2nd congress, scheduled for March 2016 in Nepal.


During the meeting, Ms. Fatma El-Mehdi gave a presentation about the role played by Saharawi woman in the struggle for freedom and independence of Western Sahara, highlighting the oppression she faces at the hand of Moroccan occupation authorities.


The Women Together Association is a nonprofit organization created in 1996. It, in association with the United Nations, focuses on eradicating poverty. (SPS)
