Dakhla (refugee camps), May 3, 2014 (SPS) - The U.S.-based Moroccan journalist, Samia Razougui, said Friday that her participation to the 11th edition of the International Film Festival in Western Sahara (FiSahara), underway in the Wilaya of Dakhla, is an “opportunity” for her to be informed about the reality of Western Sahara conflict, contrary to those misinformation promoted by Moroccan authorities.

In an interview with SPS on the sidelines of a round table on social networking sites’ protection she supervised, the Moroccan journalist expressed her happiness for being with young Saharawis, which allowed her to have a “vivid image” of the conflict in Western Sahara.

Razougui, present at FiSahara 11, recalled that the question of Western Sahara is unknown for the majority of the Moroccan people due to the falsified propaganda Moroccan media are spreading, which are aimed at distorting facts.

Being in the Saharawi refugee camps for the first time to closely assess the situation of Saharawi refugees, the Moroccan journalist indicated that she was invited by a friend in the February 20th Movement, filmmaker Nadir Bouhmouch.

A group of activists of human rights, filmmaker and cinema directors from Algeria ,Morocco, Palestine, Egypt and Sudan takes part at the event. (SPS)
