Dakhla (refugee camps), May 3, 2014 (SPS) - Tunisian cinema director Akram Moncer, director of “Altoyour Al-Mohagra (Migratory Birds)”, has hailed, in an interview with SPS, the resistance and steadfastness of Saharawi people, both in the camps and in occupied Western Sahara, inviting all Arabs to visit the Saharawi refugee camps to see the suffering of Saharawi people.

Speaking Saturday during the International Film Festival in Western Sahara (FiSahara), Moncer noted that the Saharawi people are full of hope that one day they would be able to return to their homeland, praising the struggle and steadfastness of the Saharawi people.

In the camps for the second time, Tunisian filmmaker is happy for staying with the Saharawi refugees, expressing commitment to continue working via cinema so that the Saharawis’ voice is heard, not only in Tunisia but also in every Arab corner.

Moncer, on other hand, underlined that the Saharawi question was until recently, before the fall of Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali’s regime, mostly unknown, because of Morocco’s propaganda.

The 74-minute film Altoyour Al-Mohagra explores many aspects of the conflict in Western Sahara, including history of colonialism, Gdeim Izik events, life in the Saharawi refugee camps and the situation of human rights in Western Sahara. (SPS)
