Wilaya of Dakhla hosts regional festival of culture and folk arts

Dakhla (Refugee Camps) May 1, 2014 (SPS) – The Wilaya of Dakhla, Sahrawi refugee camps, hosted Thursday the Regional Festival of Culture and Folk Arts, organized under the theme "Alerting the Cultural Front to Support of the Independence Intifada," in coincidence with the 11th edition of International Film Festival in Western Sahara (FiSahara).
 
Prime  Minister Abdelkader Taleb Omar supervised the opening of the traditional camp which included  Sahrawi traditional tents, each tent representing one of the many aspects of social life of the Saharawi people.  
 
In a speech during the ceremony, Minister of Culture Khadija Hamdi considered that the festival represents a prove that the Saharawi people is attached to its culture, customs and traditions which make it distinguishable  despite the Moroccan attempts to eliminate them.
 
The Regional Festival of Culture and Folk Arts, which is attended by the international delegations taking part in the 11th edition of International Film Festival in Western Sahara (FiSahara) and a delegation of human rights activists from the occupied territories of Western Sahara, will continue up to May 3, it should be recalled.
