U.S. supports UN-led efforts in Western Sahara

Washington, April 11, 2014 (SPS) - The U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Mr. William V. Roebuck has expressed his country’s support to the United Nations-led efforts aimed at finding "a peaceful, sustainable and mutually-agreed solution" to the Western Sahara conflict.


In a hearing on U.S. policy toward Morocco hosted Wednesday by the Subcommittee on the Middle East and North Africa, U.S. House of Representatives’ Foreign Affairs Committee, Mr. Roebuck said that the U.S. "supports the work of the UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy for Western Sahara and UN-led efforts to find a peaceful, sustainable and mutually-agreed solution to the Western Sahara conflict."


"The United States supports the United Nations-led process designed to bring about a peaceful, sustainable, and mutually-acceptable solution to the Western Sahara question," underlined the U.S. official. (SPS)
