Smara (Sahrawi refugee camps), February 24, 2014 (SPS) - Austrian runner Rainer Piedle, taking part in the 14th edition of the Sahara Marathon organised in Sahrawi refugee camps, won Monday the medal of the marathon.
After winning, he expressed his satisfaction and promised support for the Sahrawi cause and raising awareness about it particularly in his country, Austria.
Whereas the semi Marathon won by young Sahrawi Aziz Malainin, followed by Algerian Kerziz Boudjma.
Sahrawi athlete Salahdin Amedan won the 10 km race for men and French Anne Trincal won it for women.
The marathon kicked off Monday morning in the Wilaya of El Aaiun towards the Wilaya of Smara through the Wilaya of Awserd, Sahrawi refugee camps. More than 500 participants took part in this race. (SPS)
