Algeria, Ethiopia for UN efforts to find settlement to Western Sahara conflict

Addis Ababa, Jan 28, 2014 (SPS) - Algeria and Ethiopia has expressed support to the efforts undertaken by the UN Secretary General and his Personal Envoy for Western Sahara Mr. Christopher Ross, which aims to find a settlement to the Western Sahara conflict providing for the Saharawi people’s right to self-determination.


In a communiqué issued at the end of the 3rd session of the Algeria-Ethiopia Cooperation Joint Committee, held in Addis Ababa on January 24-26, the two countries reiterated their support for the UN efforts to achieve a final settlement of the Western Sahara issue in accordance with international law.


This session was co-chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Algeria Mr. Ramtane Lamamra and his Ethiopian counterpart Mr. Tedros Adhanom.


It should be recalled that Christopher Ross arrived Monday in Rabat, last leg of his new tour in the region, after he visited Algiers, Saharawi refugee camps and Nouakchott. (SPS)
