Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), Jan 23, 2014 (SPS) - Polisario Front’s Representative to the United Nations, Mr. Boukhari Ahmed, said Wednesday at Chahid Al Hafed , Saharawi refugee camps, that the region’s future “is closely linked to a just and definitive solution to Western Sahara issue.”
In a statement to the press after the arrival of the UN Secretary General’s Personal Envoy for Western Sahara, Christopher Ross, in the Saharawi refugee camps as part of a new tour in the region, Mr. Boukhari said that Moroccan regime is the “main obstacle to the efforts of the UN and Security Council.”
He called on the UN and Security Council to “put pressure on Morocco to carry her to engage seriously on a peaceful path.”
“Any solution ignoring the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination is considered invalid and outside the framework of UN resolutions concerning the territory, still under its watch,” added Mr. Boukhari .
The Polisario Front representative also said that the settlement of the Western Sahara issue “will not only allow the Saharawi people, but the entire region, to unite its efforts to address the current and future challenges.” (SPS)
