ALGIERS, December 15, 2013 (SPS) - The international network of MPs supporting the Saharawi cause, was set up Saturday in Algiers, in accordance with recommendations of the International Meeting of MPs on "the right of peoples to self-determination," held in Algiers in April.
The announcement of the installation of the network took place a few hours before the opening of the "4th International Conference on the Right of Peoples to Resistance: The Case of the Saharawi people" in the presence of MPS from African countries and that of European countries, including Spain, Italy, Portugal and Norway.
This international network is "open" to all "serving or former" MPs around the world, President of the Algerian-Sahrawi Parliamentary Friendship Group and network member Saida Bounab told the press on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony of the network.
She added, in this regard, that "the idea of creation of the network had been endorsed by 23 countries at the International Parliamentary Meeting organized by the People's National Assembly (APN) in April."
Bounab reported, moreover, that this network, which will have a website, will bond with all parliaments of the world, including the U.S. Congress, to raise awareness about the "urgency" to reach a political and lasting solution to the conflict in Western Sahara in accordance with international law.
