Saharawi political prisoner hidden by Moroccan authorities during UN delegation visit

Submitted on

SALE (Morocco), December 13, 2013 (SPS) - Moroccan occupying authorities hid on Wednesday a Saharawi political prisoner Mbarak Daoudi while a UN delegation was visiting prisons to enquire about the situation of human rights in the Moroccan prisons.

The Moroccan authorities transferred prisoner Mbarak Daoudi so that the UN delegation cannot see detention conditions of the Saharawi activist, “victim of torture in the prison of Salé (Rabat).”

The UN delegation, in charge of arbitrary detention, started a visit in the Moroccan prisons to take notice of the situation of human rights and meet the prisoners, including 26 Saharawi political prisoners to enquire about their detention conditions. (SPS)
