NEW YORK, December 13, 2013 (SPS) - Former head of a Moroccan human rights group who has called for extending MINURSO (United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara) to include human rights monitoring, Khadija Ryadi, is among six winners of UN General Assembly’s awards for their commitment to defending human rights.

Thomson Reuters Awards are given to researchers who publish the greatest number of scientific articles in crystallography and on prostate, lung and breast cancers, organizers said.

The prizes will make it possible for the winners to get their researches reach more scientists worldwide.

The prize for the largest number of articles published in 2011 and 2012 in crystallography was bestowed on Sofiane Bouacida, a senior lecturer at the University of Oum El Bouaghi, Leiala Ait-Gougam, a senior lecturer at Houari-Boumediene University of Science and Technology, and Mouloud Tribeche, from the Theoretical Physics Department at Houari-Boumediene University of Science and Technology.
