President of Republic begins visit to Kenya for Independence Day celebrations (official)

Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), Dec 11, 2013 (SPS) - President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Frente Polisario Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz begins today, Wednesday, a visit to the Republic of Kenya to attend the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the independence of this country, said an oficial Saharawi source.


At an invitation by H.E Mr. Uhuru Kenyatta, president of the Republic of Kenya, President Mohamed Abdelaziz will take part along with a large number of heads of world states and governments at the ceremonies commemorating the event.


The President of the Republic is accompanied by an important delegation comprised of Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, minister of foreign affairs, Mr. Hamdi Abaiha, minister delegate for Africa, Mr. Abdati Breika, advisor to the Presidency of the Republic, and Abbah Al-Mad, advisor to SADR embassy in Addis Ababa.

In Nairobi summit, held in 1981, African heads of state and government approved the Resolution 103 which recognizes the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination and independence.


Saharawi Republic (SADR) has been since 1984 a full founding Member of the African Union, formerly the Organization of African Unity (OAU).


Morocco withdrew from the Organization after SADR’s accession. (SPS)
