Quito, Dec 11, 2013 (SPS) - “Africa will not stop pressing on the Security Council until United Nations resolutions on self-determination referendum are applied,” said Mr. Peya Mushelenga, Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister of Namibia.

Addressing a workshop under the title “Western Sahara: the last colony in Africa” organized on the sidelines of the 18th World Festival of Youth and Students, underway in Ecuador, Mr. Mushelenga said that the UN Security Council is “responsible for the continued occupation of Western Sahara by Morocco, due to its failure to implement the UN reolutions related to the referendum on self-determination.”

“Security Council has as mechanisms as make him taking brave decisions for the Liberation of Western Sahara, but it lacks the political will,” he added.

"We, in Namibia, continue to represent the Saharawis people in all international foras, especially within the UN. We will not give up supporting the Saharawi people, materially and morally. We will continue condemning Morocco’s occupation and its allies in the UN and Security Council, untill the independence of Western Sahara is completed," underlined the Namibian diplomat. (SPS)
