Quito, Dec 3, Nov 2013 (SPS) - A Saharawi delegation, led by the Minister of Vocational Training and Public Function Ms. Khira Bulahi and Minister of Youth and Sports Mr. Mohamed Moulud Mohamed Fadel, will participate at the 18th World Festival of Youth and Student, to be held in Quito, capital of Ecuador, on December 7th-13th.
1200 participants from all countries of the world, including 60 Saharawis, will take part at this international youth gathering, said a source of the organizing committee.
“Several workshops, of which workshops on human rights and natural resources in Western Sahara. A lecture about Western Sahara, Africa’s last colony, will be organized to mark Africa Day,” a source of the Saharawi delegation told SPS.
The source underlined that Morocco will not participate at this edition of the Festival due to its violation of the terms set by the organizing organizations, namely to respect international law and peoples’ right to self-determination, a thing not respected by Rabat regime in Western Sahara.
It should be recalled that Morocco was expelled from the Festival following the 17th edition, held in 2010 in South Africa.
World Festival of Youth and Students is an international event. It is jointly organized by the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) and the International Union of Students since 1947. (SPS)
