UPyD urges Spanish Government to oppose any agreement with Morocco including territorial Sahrawi waters

Submitted on

Madrid, December 2, 2013 (SPS)- Spanish political party Union, Progress and Democracy (UPyD) led by Rosa Díez has rejected any deal involving Saharawi territorial waters.

In a proposition presented for discussion in the Congress Committee on Agriculture, UPyD demanded Spanish Government to "actively oppose by all legal, diplomatic, political means any fisheries agreement EU wants to sign with Morocco including territorial waters of the Western Sahara. "

The objective of the proposal, according to news published on Sunday by ‘Europa Press’ is to "prevent that short-term and selfish interests of some cause harm to the weak, namely the Saharawi people, and serve as an alibi for the strong , the Moroccan occupier ". (SPS)
