Brussels, Nov 27, 2013 (SPS) - European Parliament hosted Tuesday a seminar about the fisheries agreement between the European Union and Morocco, expected to be voted on next December 10th.

This seminar was attended by the Saharawi Minister for Europe Mr. Mohamed Sidati, Polisario Front’s Representative to Brussels Mr. Mohamed Ali Zarouali, in addition to a Saharawi delegation from the occupied Western Sahara, which includes activists and trade unionists.

Several EP members, representatives of the international organizations that oppose the agreement, journalists, writers and legal experts were also present at the seminar.

During the event, the delegation presented numerous testimonies about Morocco’s plundering of Saharawi natural resources and the dire situation of human rights in occupied Western Sahara.

The meeting also examined the legal, moral, political and environmental aspects of such agreement, and its consequences on the Western Sahara issue.

An awareness campaign about the illegality of EU-Morocco’s fishing agreement began Monday within the premises of the European Parliament in Brussels, ahead of its ratification on November 10th. (SPS)
