Submitted on

Brussels, Nov 26, 2013 (SPS) - A Saharawi delegation began Monday in Brussels an awareness campaign within the premises of the European Parliament to affirm that the fishing agreement between the EU and Morocco, to be voted on November 10th, should exclude the territorial waters of Western Sahara, said a source close to the delegation.

This campaign organized by the Western Sahara Resource Watch (WSRW).

The delegation, which includes activists and trade unionists from the occupied Western Sahara, aims to hold intensive meetings with members of the European Parliament and Commission to explain the legal, economic and environmental aspects, as well as the political implications of such agreement.

The move was preceded by similar meetings conducted by representatives of Saharawi civil society organizations at the European Parliament’s headquarters in Strasbourg, in collaboration with the Polisario Front’s Representative in Brussels Mr. Mohamed Ali Zarouali. (SPS)
