Human Rights abuse in Sahrawi occupied territories: Morocco may be sued

Shaheed El-Hafedh (Sahrawi refugee camps), November 24, 2013 (SPS)  - The Union of the Sahrawi lawyers plans to take legal action in Spain against Morocco for the "constant" abuses of human rights perpetrated against the Sahrawis in the occupied territories, said Friday its General Secretary, Aba Salek El-Haissan.

"We will take a legal action in Spain against Morocco for the incessant violations against the Saharawi occupied territories and for that we're gathering all the overwhelming evidences," the representative of the Saharawi lawyers said in an interview with APS.

The Saharawi organization plans to seize various international bodies including the International Criminal Court (ICC) on the "wall of shame" (2,700km), the world’s largest barrier, separating the liberated territories of Western Sahara from those still under Moroccan rule "to require dismantling."

The Violations of human rights in the occupied territories are "permanently" committed, he said, citing the recent example of the repression that followed the peaceful marches in occupied cities of Al-Ayun, Smara and Dakhla to protest against the commemoration of the 38th anniversary of the "Green March" described as "black march" by the Saharawis as marking the invasion of their territory by Morocco in 1975.
