Algiers, Nov 17, 2013 (SPS) - Chairman of the Algerian National Consultative Commission for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights (CNCPPDH), Farouk Ksentini, described Sunday as "unjustified" and " inappropriate" the election of Morocco to the Council of human Rights of the United Nations (UN).

"The election of Morocco to the UN Council of Human Rights is completely unjustified and totally inappropriate," said Mr. Ksentini, who was guest of the channel three of Algerian Radio.

He, on other hand, regretted that "a narco-state like Morocco, which is waging an expansionist and colonialist war against the people of Western Sahara" has been elected to this UN body .

The General Assembly of the United Nations elected Tuesday 14 new members of the Human Rights Council, including Algeria, for the period 2014-2016.

The Council, which was established in 2006, consists of 47 members distributed to the five regional groups (Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America, Caribbean and Western Europe and North America.) (SPS)
