'severe' security blockade imposed on occupied city of Dakhla

Dakhla (Occupied Territories), 25 October 2013 (SPS) - The Moroccan occupation authorities has imposed  a ‘severe’ blockade on the occupied city of Dakhla since Tuesday, following peaceful demonstrations in solidarity with the occupied cities of Aaiun and Smara, according to the Ministry of the Occupied Territories and Communities Abroad.

 

The peacefull demonstrations, coincided with the visit of the Personal Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations Mr Christopher Ross to the occupied territories of Western Sahara, were violently dispersed by Moroccan repressive forces leaving dozens injured.

 

Moroccan security forces surrounded Dakhla neighborhoods, arrested some young Sahrawi, interrogated them and threatened with torture and fabricating charges against them as well as the confiscation of their property, on the grounds of their participation in the peaceful demonstrations that took place in the city.
