Boumerdes (Algeria), Aug 17, 2013 (SPS) - Chairman of the Algerian National Committee for Solidarity with the Saharawi People (CNASPS), Mahrez Lamari, called Wednesday in Boumerdes, Algeria, on the United Nations Organization (UNO) to implement mechanisms to ensure the protection of human rights in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, under violations.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Fourth Saharawi Cadres’ Summer University, Mr. Lamari underlined that it’s time for the international community, particularly the UN, to react “to end the serious violations of human rights by Morocco against the Saharawi people without defense in the Sahrawi occupied territories.”

“The participation of Algerian civil society in the work of this Summer University is the proof of the unstinting and just support of Algeria to the right of the Sahrawi people for self-determination,” he argued.

In the speech he delivered, Lamari also recalled that Algeria’s position with the Sahrawi issue comes for the international legal texts made as part of the decolonization and liberation of people, and is inspired of the statement of November 1st, 1954, date of the beginning of Algeria’s national Liberation War.
