PTB supports Saharawi people’s right to self-determination and independence

São Paulo (Brazil), Aug 4, 2013 (SPS) - The Chairman of the Brazilian Ruling Labour Party (Portuguese acronym: PTB) Mr. Luiz Falcão has called for the respect of the Saharawi people’s right to self-determination and independence, during the opening ceremony of São Paulo’s 9th Forum, informed a source of the Saharawi delegation present at the event.


The Forum presided over several personalities such as the Former President of Brazil Mr. Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, vice-president of Salvador and candidate for next February’s elections, Head of the National Assembly of Ecuador, chairman of the Brazilian Communist Party, chairman of the Democratic Revolutionary Party of Mexico, secretaries general of Brazilian trade unions, ambassadors of Palestine and Vietnam, socialist movement of Bolivia and representative of the Cuban Communist Party.


More than 1000 delegates and large number of guests, observers and mass media representatives from Latin America and the world attended the event.


Secretary General of the Saharawi Women Union Ms. Fatma Al-Mehdi is taking part at the forum.


The forum honoured yesterday, Saturday, the late President of Venezuela Mr. Hugo Chavez in recognition for his valuable contribution to construction and development of Latin America. (SPS)
